hello and welcome to “the rusty little rapier”

My name is Marc, and I live in Salt Lake City, Utah with my wife and 2 crazy children.

During the fall of 2006, I purchased a 1958 Sunbeam Rapier Series II convertible for my wife, sight unseen, as a surprise Christmas present. Unfortunately, what we soon found out, was that the condition of the car was also somewhat of a surprise. And, due to its poor condition, and our lack of interest, the car sat buried under a tarp, at my fathers house, until the spring of 2008.

I’m not sure if it was guilt that drove me to it, but for Fathers day, I offered to help my dad clean up his yard, and remove the Rapier from his driveway. Ironically, this was just the spark we needed to ignite our enthusiasm of our rusty little car. And so begins our story…

This site was developed to help track our progress and share our experiences with our little car. The site uses WordPress 2.6, with a slightly modified Vslider3.2 theme that integrates Gallery2. This site is best viewed with the latest versions of the following browsers; Firefox, chrome, Safari, or Internet Explorer. This site is not supported on older browsers such as IE5.5/IE6, this browser will experience problems loading pages correctly. So, if you are using ie5.5/IE6, please for the love of GOD, upgrade to Firefox or Chrome. it’s free, and you wont regret it.

Most, if not all of the photos on this site are taken with my Iphone camera. The Iphone works great with these types of projects, but unfortunately, the convenience of a camera phone is dramatically offset by quality of the photos. So please excuse the poor photo quality, for this particular project, documentation quantity is more important that quality. Also, when possible, the photos are entered into the gallery folders in chronological order. But this may not always be the case, so when there is a photo out of order, the photo title will typically referrence it’s date.
