collecting parts

June 25, 2008 9:43 pm

I spent most of the morning collecting parts today. First, I stopped by Six States and picked up the pressure plate and friction plate. As promised, they did them both for under a hundred dollars… SWEET!

Then, I picked up the radiator and fuel tank from Intermountain Radiator

And Finally, I stopped by Crown Plating, and collected the engine tin that I had acid dipped and chrome stripped.

removing the fuel tank

June 18, 2008 9:50 pm

I had some time this morning, so i removed the fuel tank. With the rear end on jack stands, I was able to get fuel tank fasteners fairly easily. Most of the bolts released smoothly, but there were a few that even Kroil would not penetrate. The stripped bolts were removed from the top side with a grinder.

Once out, the underside of the Rapier was reveled in all it’s rusty glory.

I drained the remainder of the toxic fuel varnish into a waste fuel container and headed for the radiator shop for a hot tank bath.
